Boot TS - System Hangs Trying to Boot Hard Disk

Explanation: The system starts trying to boot the hard disk drive and then hangs up, halting the boot process.

Diagnosis: Most likely, there is something wrong with the hard disk drive. This may be a physical problem with the drive, or it may just be unformatted (although that should cause an error message, not a system hang.) This problem can sometimes also be caused if the hard disk hasn't completed warming up at the time the system tries to boot it.

Recommendation:

• Try resetting the machine using {Ctrl}+{Alt}+{Delete}. If the PC now boots properly, this is probably a problem with the hard disk taking too long to become ready when the BIOS tries to boot it.
• Troubleshoot the hard disk here.
• If the system tried the hard disk first and didn't succeed in booting it, the floppy disk drive should be accessed for booting as the second device in most cases. If it isn't, there may be a floppy disk problem.
