[ The PC Guide | Troubleshooting and Repair Guide | The Troubleshooting Expert | Troubleshooting Specific Components ] Troubleshooting CD-ROM Drives This section discusses troubleshooting CD-ROM drives and problems with CD media. Troubleshooting CD-ROMs is a bit like troubleshooting hard disks and also a bit like troubleshooting floppies. The media is removable, making them like floppy drives, but they are large and they use IDE and SCSI interfaces, like hard disks do. CD-ROM drives are fairly reliable and are not often prone to actual failure of the device itself. Usually troubles are more likely to be a matter of configuration or software drivers. Please choose the category best describing the problem you are having with the CD-ROM drive.
