[ The PC Guide | Troubleshooting and Repair Guide | The Troubleshooting Expert | Troubleshooting Specific Components | Troubleshooting Monitors ] Troubleshooting Monitors - Failure or Improper Operation This section provides troubleshooting information for monitors that appear to have failed or are not working in general, in some other way. There are numerous problems that can cause the monitor to not produce a picture at all. Usually they are electrical problems within the monitor, some of which can be repaired. If the monitor appears to be totally dead, then make sure that the monitor is plugged in and turned on, and see if it has power. Check for a power-on indicator on the front of the monitor, and check to see if the monitor warms up. Then select the appropriate general failure troubleshooting section, based on whether or not the monitor appears to have power.
