I'v an Udma66 disk , an old 2.5 gb disk and a Cdrom (48x)
I'v the u66 in the u66 controller , then I hasve the disk as secondary master and the cd , in the same grey cable as secondary slave , BUT , my sistem has some problems detecting the 2gb disk and the cd , sometime work , sometime not
What do I have to do , to configure it the right way?.
THANX to all

Hi and Welcome,

First, we need to know a little more about your system. How old is it? Do you know what brand of motherboard you have? What is the date of your BIOS? What is your operating system?

We need to figure out if your BIOS will support an AUTO setting for your devices. If you can set your IDE devices to AUTO in the BIOS, the system should recognize all devices.

Do you have your smaller harddrive partioned and formatted?

Post back with answers to the above and we'll go from there.

Cheers,

Hey,

When you say "u66 controller", do you mean an add-on card, or are you using the motherboard primary IDE connection?

First, check the cables to make sure they are secure on the smaller harddrive and CD-ROM. I assume that you have double-checked the jumpers to make sure they are set correctly?

Second, boot up and go into your BIOS setup. Under the Standard CMOS setup, make sure all IDE devices are set to Auto Detect, or Auto, whichever you have.

I've got some errands to run so hopefully someone else can pick up where we left off here.

Good luck.
