I deleted 6 gb of mp3 files today. (i know dum move)

Now i cannot defrag drive D.
It will start but after it gets to 14% it stops and says "Windows cannot defrag this drive becuase it cannot access part of the drive, click scan disk and do a thorough scan.
I did this and it found no errors. i tried to defrag again in safe mode and it still did not work.
My hard drive is 30GB, windows is on drive C 7.79Gb, drive D takes up the rest. D is used to hold mp3's,Kids Games, and other files. I have already backed up everything important on to cd's.
Hope someone can help me!

Thanks for the info geebee.
I ended up formatting the drive. Nothing else would work.

Sorry to hear you reformated, i hate when it come s to that, but it always works when all else fails. Next time you defrag , turn off your virus protection and screensaver. Maybe that will help, probably geebee post said that though.
