My problem is this:Stop error 0x000 0001e VMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDELD NTOSKRNL The way this happend is I tried to instal an Acer cd\rw
my system and I received the stop error. And even when I try to put back the regular Cd rom I still get error, so the only way htis machine runs is without the cd roms. Can some one walk me through the steps to solving this problem

Without the CDs installed bootinto Win98 safemode and make sur that there aren't any "ghost" CD drives there...do the same with the 2K equivalent. Here (http://www.microsoft.com/enable/download/products/windows2000/appb.txt) are some other things to check....

NTOSKRNL is the main W2000 program file itself-if i were you i'd shutdown the system, install your CD peripherals-boot into win98 and make sure they are working properly, if so then insert the W2000 CD and do a repair option, this sounds as if you had a corrupted install of W2000.

Make sure if you keep your old CD player to set it as master and the CDRW as slave, if you choose to only install the CDRW, install it as master-check the jumpers to be sure they are set correctly before installation.
