Hello all.
I have a small problem which maybe someone can help me with.
Recently a work friend gave me a second hand Intel motherboard complete with a 133 Pentium CPU. I decided to take the 133 and installed it in my computer which has a baby AT board and orginally a Pentium 75. Now the computer runs slower than before, and the system bios shows the CPU as 100 Mhz only. Anybody got any ideas why this should be so?
Thanks in advance.

It's running @ default speed. You won't get 133mhz unless certain jumpers & dip swithes are set. Do you have the manual? Do you know the make of the MoBo?

Those older boards require you set the jumpers on the motherboard for the bus speed and multiplier. Your bus speed should be set to 66MHz and the multiplier should be set to 2x. (66 x 2 = 133). What motherboard is it anyway, i.e., make and model? Let me know and I'll take a look at the manual for directions. Anothe factor is what the board will actually handle. If the motherboard is a socket 5 based board, then there is a good chanse that 120MHz is the max speed (The 120MHz CPu's ran on a 60MHz bus speed). If it's a socket 7 based board, then you should have no problem with a 133MHz CPU on it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look at the bus speed.
Just one question, how will I know what socket the motherboard is based on 5 or 7?

ZIF sockets usually have the identification on top. Socket 7's have 321 pins, 1 more than the Socket 5. CPU Interfaces (http://www.pcmech.com/slots.htm) describes the different socket and slot interfaces.

It look like 100 Mhz is the fastest I am going to get. Thanks for the professional and prompt help guys.
