I have a PC with a SCSI HD of 3GB and I want to install a second HD of 30GB as drive D
But it wants to boot from this..
I know that it wont boot if I dont have an OS, but how can I format it..
DM formats it ok with 30GB, but then I cant boot because there is no OS, and if there is an OS it doesnt boot from the SCSI.
How do I use DM to format drive D with 30GB..

Where are you connecting this drive?
The Primary IDE controller or the secondary IDE controller?
What other devices do you have installed on the IDE controller?

Have you set your bios Boot order to A , SCSI CD-Rom yet?
When you install the drive are you creating a Primary dos partition or an extended dos partition?

THe Primary IDEController..

There is no choice, itīs an old mb, just floppy. or HD but I understood that the adaptec 2940 automatically took preference

I just want one primary partition without DOS, to use to store large files

Move the IDE drive to your secondary ide controller.
Disable the primary IDE channel if your M/B will allow that
Set the Bios to look boot from floppy.
When it reads No floppy is should then use the scsi

Thanks, I tried that, itīs better, but it still wants to boot from the IDE drive, even as a secondary Master (if it is a slave, neither DM ou Fdisk recognise it)
I think there is a full version of DM from On Track, I am using the Quantum version, and I think this version doesnīt let me do what I want.

Thanks for your help..
It was the secondary that did it..
I had to format the 30Gb HD using another PC (so as not to use DM)
and then, as well as put it as a secondary master, I had to DISABLE the drive in the Setup...
Windows recogizes it fine now...
DOS doesnīt, but this doesnīt matter..
