I'm trying to install a second HD in my computer. I already have a HD as a master and in the same IDE cable a CD ROM, but the computer doesn't recognize the second drive which is in the second IDE cable.Can somebody help me?

First course of action would be to make sure that the jumpers on your second HDD are set to the Master position.

Then, you may need to enter the BIOS and make sure the the Secondary IDE is set to AUTO detect.

Oops, also, what Motherboard or make of computer do you have?
