I recently acquired a motherboard with a missing BIOS chip and I need some help identifying the manufacturer. The details are as follows:
Socket 7
2 ISA slots
3 PCI slots
1 AGP slot
4 Simms
2 Dimms
AT and ATX power
AT keyboard and a PS2 connector on the board
SIS 5595 chipset
On board sound (Sound Pro PCI)
No jumpers for CPU or bus multiplier (ie it must be done by the bios)
Its also has the following markings:
V1.3 (in the corner next to the keyboard connector)
F5E85123372 Made in China (on a sticky label on one of the ISA slots)
L9807-8 ML-1 94V-0 (underneath the board)
My intention is to find a new BIOS for the board and flash a spare AWARD bios chip I have put on the board.
So far I have managed to boot the the board by adding a P100, some 4 MB simms and an old ISA video card (thank-you to the person who posted details of this little trick recently!). I also attacthed a floppy drive but the system wouldn't recognise it. Instead I dug out an old multi IO card I had spare, attatched the floppy drive to this and now the system will recognise it.
Unfortunately, my problem now is that it won't recognise the keyboard. Consequently, it detects my floppy drive, asks me to insert a system disk and to then press enter. But because I can't use the keyboard I can't get any further.
So, if anyone can identify my board for me and also suggest how I can get around this problem with the keyboard, I will be most grateful.
Happy New Year to you all,
Andy
