My system config : PIII/500MHz/64MB RAM/10.2 GB HDD/Award Modular BIOS/Win98 OS

While booting of my system I am getting

CMOS check sum error Defaults loaded
Press setup to change clock ratio.

In BIOS it is showing clock speed as 350MHz and date is 1st Jan 1999.

After changing the battery also no improvement.

If I change my motherboard will the problem get solved?
Whether I have to format the HDD and load Win98 OS again for better result after changing the motherboard?

Please kindly clarify my doubt

Spend some time looking through the forums, we had the same problem here a couple months ago, unfortunately I'm pressed for time and can't look it up at the moment.

If you change the motherboard formatting and reinstalling windows is always recommended to avoid problems related to motherboard specific drivers left over from the old motherboard.

Make sure the jumper on the motherboard is not set to clear. If it is, it'll do just that every time you reboot or power down. Hope this helps.
