I'm trying to get a Pinnacle Video capture card to work, and Pinnacle say
that
my graphics card, sound card, and the Pinnacle card must be in different IRQs.

They also say that my graphics card and the Pinnacle card must each have a
dedicated IRQ.

In my Device Manager/Computer I see that all 3 of the above cards are on IRQ
9,
along with a PCI to USB Universal Host Controller and 2 IRQ Holders for PCI
Steering.

If I try to change the IRQ of one of these cards by unchecking Use
'Automatic Settings',
and Clicking on 'Change setting', I get the message box 'This Resource
setting cannot
be modified'.

I've looked in the BIOS settings of my Gateway (Its a Phoenix BIOS) but all
it's got
about IRQs is the range of those that are reserved for PCI. There does not
seem
to be any way to force a card onto an IRQ.

I know that this cannot be correct.

Any ideas.

Do you have any open IRQs to begin with?

How many slots are there in this machine?

You may have to play "slot shuffle" in order to find the slots that they would work in. The "holder for PCI steering" is ok to share with some thing, everything else.....well, you found out about that.

Another thing, if you do have open IRQ's you can go into device manager -> computer -> properties -> reserve resources -> and then reserve IRQ 9, reboot, that would force everything to find a new one, and then go back an unreserve it, and hope fully everything will stay separate....works only if there are open IRQs.
