Soundmax Integrated Digital AUDIO sound card in my new PC, Games Tomb raider ELITE FORCE, THEIF came with PC and work fine but unable to play older games Duke3d, Star trek with sound, surely I dont have to get soundblaster or awe 32 sound card. Adjusted doss system and they play ok just no sound (HELP)

I dont know your operating system.....but will assume its either Win98 SE or heaven forbid Win Me...in either case, you must not have "Dos emulation" or SB 16 emulation drivers loaded. Try this: Go to My Computer/Control Panel/Add New Hardware..........see if the "device"[the part of the sound card designated for dos sound] can be found .....if not, go into "Device Manager" which is in Cont. Panel/System/ and see if you have any "!" marks by the Sound/Video and Game Controllers section there.
If you do.......remove them and let Win find them again to load drivers.

Kinda same problem here, got the onboard AC97 sound chip, sb features for dos games, if you disable it, get that, is supposed to work, no way. Had it working once and at that the device manager didn't show anything...get that. Ordering a separate sound card...techno fit. Try your MB manufacturers forum...i did, no solution though. CYA
