Can anyone help please. Everytime I try to run Scandisc it fails after 10 attempts telling me that something else is running. No other program is running. Any ideas?

No other program that you're aware of.
Turn your computer on, boot into windows, Cntrl + Alt + Delete, End task on everything but explorer and system tray. Also Change your screen saver time to 60 minutes. Then change back when you're done.

Does the same thing but much quicker and it usually does a good job of protecting those apps that absolutely must stay running. If not it is able to be customized.
