I'm having a problem with sound cards. I've tried 2 different cards. I downloaded the drivers off Windriver.com. The game port driver never loads. I don't have the Win95 CD it asks for to complete the update. Why does it download some of the driver without the Win95 CD? The system is a 166mhz Pentium, 32mb Ram, 4gb HD. I tried a ALS100 card and a YamahaOPL3 Sx card. I tried the Win98 CD that my system has with no luck. Help!!!!!!!!!

What file is ti looking for off the win95 CD?

If you know that file you can usually search for that specific (most often) .vxd...some place like here (http://www.drd.dyndns.org/dll/index.shtml)

I had similar problems with my Yamaha sound card, as far as i am concerned they are useless. I ended up solving the problem by uninstalling everything related to the card, removing it putting it in a different pci slot and letting windows detect and install everything, you may need a windwos 95 cd though, I may know where to get a bootleg copy.

O.K. so I got frustrated and decided to kiss the pig. I went out and bought a sound card for $20.00. This one is a PCI. I thought changing the slot might do it. WRONG!!! The driver seems to install O.K., but device manager shows the yellow screamer again. So thats 3 different cards, 2 slots and the dang thing still does not work. Please give me some help. I'm all out of options.

By the way, I took out 2 16mb simms and put in a 128mb dimm. The post only shows 32mb. Any ideas how to change that.

Thanks, John

FYI. The directX had some bad files. I downloaded an update and everything worked. I also learned about DXDIAG.EXE. I wish I would of known that last week. A+ class never said a word about it either.

Thanks for the help, John
