i am trying to boot a gateway 2200 laptop pentium with mmx 150mhz
my trouble is that i cant get past "video bios shadowed"
the system will not let me enter setup either
i have tried removing the harddisk and memory but it sill hangs
anybody got any ideas

Go into BIOS and disable video BIOS shadow, see if that helps.

Try Control+Alt+S. I have read that works with some Gateway boards. If that does not work, try Control+Alt+Esc . Also, when the laptop starts to boot, look for the Bios manufactor and version number. If you can find that, post it here.

on boot up i get
"CHIPS 65554 PCI & VL Accelerated VGA BIOS
VBIOS Version 1.40.a5"
the BIOS version is 6.20
i have tried ctl+alt+s and ctl+alt+esc but nothing

Took a bit of digging, but I found this motherboard Installation page at Gateway (http://www.gw2k.com/support/manlib/cmponts/sysboard/8506177/index.htm) which says use [F1] to get into BIOS. I included the link in case you need to have a look at their instructions. You should see a message on the screen that says "Press F1 to enter Setup." That's the only time BIOS is accessible, usually during the memory count.
