I am trying to build my lovely new PC KT-7 RAID with 1Ghz Athlon but the thing will not work. It powers up and I get a steady beeping ('probably a RAM problem' according to AWARD).

Here are the steps I have taken
Tried two video cards (AGP and PCI) which I know work
Re seated processor
Put washers under motherboard in case of shorting
I have two 64MB RAM sticks which worked in my old computer. Tried each on its own and together

I can't think of anything else to do. I think it must be the motherboard or Processor but I don't know how to tell which is the problem.

Can anybody help? please!

I've a similar problem. I have the same Motherboard it works with a 700 Duron but not with the 1.1 Thunderbird. I get the Bios ROM Checksum error. I've Flash the bios with the latest update. I don't know if you've flashed you're system, but maybe this will do the trick. If I reinstall the old 700 it works again.

Like I said first try to flash it, and check that you're power supply is sufficient. You can find it on the AMD site, but normally over 250 Watts should work.

regards.

Thanks for the help but how can I flash the BIOS as it doesn't get as far as inialising the floppy?

My only other concern is the memory. I am pretty sure they are PC100 but I suppose they could be only 66. How could I tell? There don't seem to be any identifying marks on the sticks.
