I was recently deleting unused programs with Add/Remove programs wizard in control panel. I think I accedentily deleted a display program or something, because now everything I look at is very weird, for example my wallpaper on my desktop is dosent have any clear defined lines and the icons are all larger and look like win95 icons. Also internet explorer is affeced as well, the pictures and even toolbars are unclear. I have win98 second editon. Is there a folder that these deleted items would go to, or are they completly gone? What should I do in order to get it back to the way it was?
Thanks for any help

Sounds like you deleted your video display drivers and changed your resolution. There's a system restore function you should try first but do you have all the software ready if you need to format and start over?
You could back up files if you have a burner and clean the slate which is always a good thing to do anyway. Your call.
I haven't chosen this path ever but it's supposed to work:
boot up with start up disk
choose no cd rom support
at a: change to c:
then c:\windows\command
then c:scanreg /restore leave space between scanreg & /restore
this should restore files too previous working order
I think you pick a certain date to go back to somewhere. It's worth a try but be prepared to format and reinstall if it doesn't do the intended fix.
You'll need any drivers for video cards, W98SE and any other software you have like Office programs.

Probably trying to reinstall the video drivers would be the easist thing to try first. Just go to "Display" on the control panel and then adapter and switch it to "Standard VGA" type first.

I tried to switch the VGA to standard, but it didn't have any effect.
I then tried the system restore and went back 3 days before the display faild, but that also didn't have any effect. Is there anything else I should try before reinstalling?
Thanks for your help
