i have a supraexpress 33.6 pnp voice modem. here lately
every time i connect it disconnects a couple of minutes later.
i am always having problems with it staying connected. when
it does stay connected, it does a good job. (not often).
could somone please tell me what the problem is. also, i
have a 4x cd-rom drive that i put in a cd and it will not
respond. some will and some will not. this problem has just
started. i have been using this drive for about a year, and
have not had any problems with it.i had a cd that i burned
and the back of is blue. i thought maybe that my drive is
a little old that maybe the laser was not strong enough to
break through the blue coating to get to the program. but
now like i said i put a regular cd in it and it may pick
it up and it may not. could anyone give me some ideas of
what the problem may be. it is a goldstar crd-8240b. i think
it it 4x. thanks for any replies.

Hang around, ReddDogg might be here with some suggestions concerning the connection. I'd say call the ISP's tech support and see if you have some of the dial up networking settings wrong, DNS addresses, or wrong type logon, etc.

For the CD ROM, I'd say take it apart and clean the drive hubs. They'll be round rubber hubs, usually black, that sit on top and bottom of the disk, clean them with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol, making sure not to touch the laser lens. As they get old they get dirty and can't spin the CD correctly, then the drive can't read the disk.
