I've added it in the add hardware in my win 98....it has no problem loading the drivers but that's about it. I've tryed changing ports, I've tryed every danm thing but still nothing....no jumpers on the modem ....any suggestions.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Get a hardware based modem instead of one that eats up your system resources...

That's why they call it "Plug and Pray"...sometimes it just doesn't work. Try going to the manufacturer's website and getting updated drivers for it. It also might require a software installlation instead of simply using the normal windows installation procedure. Again, check the manufacturer's website for installation instructions.

Disable COM 2 in BIOS, that might help.

I was actually serious though, a hardware modem costs about $20 more, but is much easier to install, and uses its own processor to do its job instead of your CPU and memory. It also will have jumpers to set which COM port and IRQ to use. I'd return that one and get a hardware modem.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
