Hi again.
You may remember I posted to the group early in January, when I had managed to damage the memory simms socket on my motherboard. Everyone was very helpful, so I'm posting my next couple of problems in the hope you will help again.
A friend of mine sorted the damaged socket problem, and now the computer will boot, load Win 98 and operate fine. The only problem is that whenever I boot, I get a 162 Configuration error, and I have to reset the BIOS settings. Has anyone got any idea what this error means, and how I can fix it ?
The second problem (which was the start of the whole thing in the first place) is that I am trying to install a network card in the computer. The drivers and installation seemed to go fine, but I could not attach to the network. (The card etc is compatible). I looked at the system properties for the card, and found a message to the effect that Windows stalled when trying to access this device, and will never try to access it again. It said I should try and update the drivers (which came with the card in the first place.) I uninstalled the card and started again. Now it just hangs every time it tries to locate the drivers. Please help.
The PC is a 3yr old Apricot MS540, P120, 16Mb, Pheonix BIOS.
Thank you,
Sharon
