I just built myself another system and thought that I'd splurge and buy myself an optical mouse.I got a Dexxa ps2 optical and when I installed it on to my new system it failed to recognize the mouse.I shut the computer down and installed my old ps2 mouse, started up fine.I figured at first that I had a bum mouse but when I tried it on my old system it worked fine.I'm somewhat stuck and am in the middle of checking up on the motherboard(bios) for different settings but as of right now,I have yet to find anything.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is a pcchips motherboard (http://www.pcchips.com/)with a 566 celeron, 64mb ram, amibios, and running win98 as the o/s.mouse will function with the ms driver already loaded(with only the buttons working)Driver is needed to activate the 3 other buttons and the scroll function.Mouse worked ok on a 366 emachine. The only difference that I noticed on the two systems was that there was an option on the emachine bios to activate the ps/2 port.

You can go to This Site (http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/) and maybe get more info about the PC Chips boards. Take a close look through the BIOS, you should have an option there somewhere to enable PS/2 mouse support. It might also have a jumper on the motherboard.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
