i just purchased a 10x4x32cd-writer and before that i had a 4x4x20 speed and with the 4x i was recording a cd in real jukebox in about 40 minutes now with the 10x im doing the same thing what is the problem. could it be that i have a 17.2 gig hard drive and a 6.4 and the cd-writer is hooked to the 6.4 could that be slowing things up cause at first i had bought a 12x iomega cd-writer and i took it back cause i thought something might was wrong with it but the 12x also recorded a music cd in 40 minutes, what could be causing this

All CDRs contain error checking and correction for data. Not all CDRs suport error checking for music data. I don't know if this will help you or not but check to see if your new CDR supports this. I know brands like Sony and Pioneer do.
