I built a computer with a PIII 800 Hz/133 CPU and an Intel D815EEA motherboard and have upgraded to Win ME. My problem is when I try to plug in a SCSI PCI card it takes my IRQ 6 address and upon booting up, the floppy disk becomes nonfunctional, (FDS faillure) and I must push F1 to continue. How do I get the SCSI card to change IRQ address? Other components on the system include: 03-COM 2, 04-COM 1, 05-MPU-401 compatible, 06-standard floppy disk controller, 07-printer port, 09-Soundmax integrated disk audio, 10- Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller 2, 11-WDM Communication Device/Creative PC-DVD card, 12 Mouse...13-15 number processor/hardrives/Cds.
My thought is do I need two IRQs related to sound (05 and 09)? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Looks like 8 is the only IRQ you have available. Check the SCSI card to see of it has a jumper to make it use a different IRQ. If it's not silkscreened onto the card you'll have to have a manual or spec sheet. The manufacturer's website should have the info.
The two sound devices should both be OK, one is related to the sound card, (5) and the other is a DVD drive (9). Different animal. Unless I misread that...

Actually 8 has the system CMOS/real time clock...so it is taken, I upgraded and taken the drives, etc. from another computer (where they worked fine, but I don't know how the IRQ was arranged) and put them in my newly built one (after reformatting the harddrives)...only now I've seem to run out of IRQs...

HMMM....about the only way I know of to get another IRQ would be to remove one of the devices. With that many IRQ's taken it would be expensive, but you might be better off with SCSI hard drives, then only one IRQ would be taken by the controller...
Don't know what else to tell you, maybe someone else can come up with another idea.

With a PCI scsi card you should be able to share IRQ's.
If you are using Windows you can change the settings manually in system properties.
Open system in control panel.
Then the device manager tab,
High lite the scsi device and click on properties.
Then the resources tab.
Remove the automatic setting check mark.
That should allow you to use the Change Settings button.
I share IRQ11 with my G400 Video card and Adaptec Scsi pci card
