My modem won't dial out if I have messages on my voice mail by my local phone company. I assume it can't interpet the beeping dial tone. How can I connect without checking my voice mail first?

Try looking around for the setting that tells it not to check for a dial tone before dialing. I don't think it will work, I think you'll have to bite the bullet and check your messages.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?

i've had the same problem many moons ago. as pete said you have to check your messages and either store them or delete them. thats the only way.

Or could you possibly disable the beep notification on you voicemail?

Most telco voicemail systems I've seen have some way to configure your notification options.

Hello,

I encountered this problem while staying with the in-laws, since it was there voicemail and I had no way of clearing the messages. How I got around this was to pick up the phone, listen for the stuttering dial tone, click connect on my computer, and hang up gently when the connection was made. This was a real pain, but normally worked. I had to play around with the timing a little cause sometimes the computer was a little slow and you got the recording... "If you would like to make a call......"

If you can clear the messages, that would be best, but this worked for me.
