I have an HP 7850 PC, and bought a Canon BJC-8250 which I have been having
difficulty hooking up. There were two disks included, one for printer driver
installation for Windows Me (which I have) and one for Windows 95-98. When I
tried to use the disk for the Me edition, nothing happens. No Canon window
opens, nothing happens when I try to use the disk. It states to insert the
disk, then reboot and I have recieved directions from email tech from Canon
on how to set up my printer folder, what information to key in, and I have
tried to do the manual setup way of D/setup etc. None have worked. Could
there be a problem in the parallel cable? Do I have to screw in both screws
along with the attachment procedure (pushing the connection onto my printer
port on the back of the PC) as I am having trouble with one of the screws.
It may be stripped or something. I had this hooked up once, then got a virus
and had to go through the recovery process, not it won't work. I have added
the printer file, and have used the Canon BJC-800 as the identifying printer,
as the 8250 is not listed as an option.

Help me please

Those little screws have nothing to do with the connection...this process should work though:

Click "Start," goto "Settings," then "Printers"

Click "Add Printer"

This will bring up a wizard that will guide you through the process...you should select "Local" if you have the printer attached to your computer and eventually it will bring you to a screen that lists a whole bunch of printers and manufacturers...make sure your driver cd or floppy is inserted and hit the button that says "Have Disk"

It should search the floppy and cd drives and give a list of printers it found drivers for...hopefully your model will be one of them...good luck
