I have setup a (ethernet) network on Windows98 with a Hub. I loaded the following protocals TCP/IP,IPX/SPX and NETBUEI. I have networking working to the point where I can share files and printers. When I try to use a game (Red Alert 2) The games tells me that IPX is not available and its looking for a socket number and Destination Network. The Destination network is looking for a format of xx.xx.xx.xx This will not allow an IP address format of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ? Can anyone give any suggestions?

Also: I have the Frame type for both pc's set to Ethernet 802.3
I have "I want to enable Netbois over IPX/SPX" set on
I have "Set this protocal to default" on IPX/SPX.
I have "Network Address" set to 10 (IPX/SPX settings) for all pc's

The format xx.xx.xx.xx is TCP/IP
The program is looking at TCP/IP and not IPX

Check the BINDING settings in IPX and see if TCP/IP is listed.
If so remove the check mark next it.

Also you may want to set NetBEUI as the default protocol.
in properties for Netbeui advanced tab

At least that's how I have my network setup and it allows the Kids to play their IPX games.
