View Full Version : Hewlett packard 3P Laser Printer
I have been offered a HP 3P laser printer with a paper jam fault. Is this usually easy to fix and are they good printers generally?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Check your other post, I answered there too...the papaer jam is sometimes tedious to clear up, since the printer has plenty places paper can get wadded up and stuck, you have to open the top and take a close look at every roller, and pull out every peice of paper you can find. Sometimes tweezers help...As long as the rollers are fairly clean, you shouldn't have consistent paper jam problems. Be careful though, only touch the rubber rollers. The shiny metal developer roller should never be touched at all...Rubber rollers can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol.

I know this is quite late, but from my personal experience for the last 7 years with the 3P... I'd take one in a heartbeat! I've never seen a better workhorse ... unless it's the 4!

Judi: I have a laser jet series II and I love it. Can't wait to get the bucks together to replace the fuser so I can use it again. I've run over 3000 pages through it and never had any trouble at all, and never a paper jam. Same used toner cartridge that was in it when I got it used, and no telling how old...Can't beat it, I'll go for HP every time. My Desk Jet 400 has been just as good. By contrast, the Panasonic laser printer I'm using now just about sucks...jams about every 4th page, I hate it.

Paleo Pete: Dittos! I don't know what it is about the DeskJet 400, but I've had a terrific run with the two we had in our office. Yes - I said "office". The only complaint was not fast enough and not enough paper capacity. They were replaced with LaserJet 5L which just stopped running and a DeskJet in the 600 series (which also died). They want me to look into working out something to link three stand alones to one Laser 4000-something. Any suggestions? A guy at Radio Shack said I could buy some sort of device that would hook up two computers to one printer without having to do the "network" thing. We'll see.
