I had a old comp cyrex 300 mII chip ran fine had a old doulble speed burner in it and it was fine. I built a new machine a 700 celeron PIII board and put the burner in it and it would not even boot up I tried a 8 speed imation burner after trying numerous times to get it to work it to had the same problem so I sent it to the shop $60.00 latr the said it was working they tweaked the bios but wont tell me how. well the burner was sent back twice to imation for replace it takes for ever so Im back to the 2 speed any clues to why it will not work in my new system ( memorex crw 1622) I hate to spend another $60.00 thanks greg

What is your Windows version? 95a/95b/98/98SE?

You should always include it. Can make a big difference.

Do you have the cdr on an IDE channel alone?

You may want to check to see if its jumpered as a slave or master etc...

Sound like a newer machine with udma so you likely want the cdr on a separate channel (alone or with another cdrom drive).

Hi I have tried it on a separate channel and checked the setings and they are correct but still the problem exist. Originally posted by gooseman:
