But when I go to the Device Mnager I don't find anything in the network adapters . One time it came up with the yellow exclamation but did't get any IRQ ?? There are two open IRQ's available.
Please help with the install.

Mem:256 mb at 133.
40 gig HD--Maxtor
MB--Tekram : TRM-K7KX-A(1.02)
Chipset:Via Kx-133.

If you have a setup or diagnostic program for the Network card. Use it to check that the card is set for plug and play (PnP). You can also use the program to manaully configure the card's IRQ settings.

Hi ;
thanks for the reply.
Where will I find the diagnostic program for the ethernet card ?
The floppy disk with the card does not even have a read me file ?
Can you please let me know how to perform the diagnostics.
I have Win-Me on the pc.
thanks.

Sorry, http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif but there aren't any drivers that support that card running on Windows ME at the support site's web page. ( the drivers however my be included on the ME disk.) Take a look here to check my results:
DFE-530TX+ (http://support.dlink.com/product_id.asp?productid=DFE-530TX+)
This card doesn't seem to come with a Dia/setup program. They recommend that you move the card to another PCI slot to fix any IRQ problems.
I'll do some more looking so hold on http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
edit: OK according to the Motherboard manual for your board.(page 47) Which I got here :
MB manual (http://iuser:tekramdocs@support.tekramusa.com/DOCS.NSF/All_DOCs/?SearchView&Query=K7KX-A&SearchOrder=3)
You can change the IRQ for a PCI slot in the system BIOS. However, make sure first that you copy the settings down before you change them. ( they should be set to 'auto' by default. Plus you can always use the "reset configuration" option if for any reason you wish to undo your changes)
But since the card always excepts the IRQ assigned to whatever PCI slot it's in. (IE: you can't change it manualy) Your real problem may be lack of driver support for Win ME.
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for your advice GH,
Well I did moved the NIC card through all different PCI & also removing other pci's.But nothing happens---the win find the the new hardware as a pci card & demand the software for the drivers which I put the cd rom it goes through all files & then stops at windows folder.Whe I hit next for the drivers the pc freezes.
this card is being added to add a new cadle modem to the pc.So I removed the old 56 k modem. Now what ahppens is that if I want to insttall the old 56k or the new cable modem the win--me do find the new hardware & goes for the software install but after that it either does not find the drivers or find the driverfiles & then freezes. My old 56k was running smooth--no problems. But I needed to get faster speed modem to go through my study course.
I am confused as to why now the add hardware wizard freezes before the install of the drivers. It never did on any of the installs before.I see it when I hit ctrl/alt/del after the freeze as the window shows me :: warning:: that the add hardware Wizard is not responding.
Will appreciate help as this pc has lot of my course work & I need it running without fresh windows install > I will loose 3-4 months of work.
ALL help will be greatly appreciated.thanks

I would first start ME in safe mode and remove all instances of the modem and network card. Reboot the system and let it reinstall the drivers.
After looking around I still have not found any information that the card will work with Win ME. They do say that a diagonistic program should be included on the floopy that came with the card.
edit OK Windows ME has the drivers for the DFE 530tx which might work with the DFE 530tx+

This might not help, but I would suggest getting a NIC that is supported by windows ME, there are different ones for different operating systems. try 3com for their different cards, they have quite a few for win ME. I am not sure how to make a link her you can click on, but you can copy this. www.3com.com (http://www.3com.com) . I have win98 SE, and i at first got the wrong NIC and had the same problem, so i got one from 3com that specifically says win98SE, and it works great.
Hope it helps.
