After instlling my HP LJ4050 I keep getting a message that says "new hardware found". I get the message every time I reboot my machine. The printer works fine and I just cancel the message when it appears, but it is annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this from occuring.

What is it finding? The printer? Try to find the driver for it if you have the cd manually try finding the driver cause windows is very stupid in this aspect. Point out the exact location on the cd. Is it trying to find a driver for it? If this doesnt help go in to device manager and disable whatever windows is trying to find click on it and there should be a option.Althought now it will not work cause it will be disabled.

Everything is working fine. The printer is working just as it should.
I have uninstalled and installed drivers repeatedly but I keep getting the "found new hardware message at boot up".

Have you tried letting it run through and see what it is trying to install?

What interface? How is LPT1 configured in BIOS setup, e.g. SPP, EPP, ECP?
