i have a creative infra 52x cd-rom and lately whenever i put a disc in, it ejects by itself after awhile. i tried putting a working non-pirated cd coz i was thinking it might be the quality of the pirated cd but any cd that i put in still ejects it.

what's the problem? help

my pc specs:
Pentium III 450
256 RAM
20Gig HD
1 HP CD-R (i dunno if this is relevant)

anything else you need to know, just post it.

Thanks

Shot in the dark here,
Have you downloaded anything suspicious lately? There is a little program that went around awhile back that, when you clicked a button on the screen, your CD drawer would come out. Could be someone has put this in a virus.
Does it happen with all CD's (data, music, programs)? Does it have similar timming? How much use does this drive get?

It's nice to know if we helped you out. Please let us know IF and WHAT fixed the problem.

ion,
Most likely you have a dirty lazor
At the very least, its a creative which IMHO speaks for itself........
Tray poping out most likely means it cant read the CD's, and not much else...

Does it stay open?

Could be dust, paper or something making it think that it is jammed...

If it is still under warranty, try that route...

Try botting up with the cleaner disk already in the drive

I hate to post this here for fear someone that shouldnt do this will try hehe, but if it cant be cleaned with the cleaner disk and that is in fact the problem then you need to disassemble it and clean it manually,

Dont touch the lazor "at all" while youre in there if you ever deside to try cleaning a drive........

spray a little cleaner solution on the lense and then blow it off
also never ever use alcohol on the lense

Now that Ive said just enough to get everyone in trouble haha Im off to bed

With what AwARe said, I'd like to add one thing, use photo lens cleaning products, they are for high quality optics.

Always good to hear that people still have at least one "working non-pirated cd" in their collection. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Has the drive been recently installed or moved? Random ejects can occur if
it is not level, or if the mounting screws are missing, too loose, or too tight.
