My problem is that when connecting my scanner via a Belkin BusStation usb hub (powered) it makes a high-pitched whining noise - like some TV sets do, but when connected directly to computer usb the noise goes away. Any suggestions

Do you have another USN device to plug in and see if the same happens.

Does it have its own power supply. (the USB hub that is)

Hi, The usb hub does have it's own power supply - which must have something to do with the problem, and other devices seem to function ok. The scanner still scans fine.
