Try reinstalling your internet providers cd.Your tcp ip configurations could have been messed up somehow. Reinstalling could fix these problems. Who is your provider(aol, microsoft, etc)?

Open up your Dial up networking folder, right click on your connection icon, select properties, once the properties window opens go to the server types tab, select it and the go down to the tcp/ip settings box and click on it, make sure that you have checks in the boxes for both server assigned IP address and server assigned name server addresses...unless you havae a static IP address (unlikely with a dial-up connection) orare sure that you have the correct name server addresses (even with the correct ones you may sometimes have problems)...this will allow those addresses to dynamically assigned.
