I installed a new color cartridge(HP brand) in my HP Deskjet 812C and I keep getting a warning message, anytime I print, that the cartridge is not seated properly. It's exactly the same as the old one and I've tried re-seating it 4 times. It was aligned after each installation and seems to print OK so why does the printer not like it?

Hi RBR,
The only thing to do in this case is to perservere in re-seating the cartridge until you don't get any error messages.
I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but it seems it's about the only answer. Try checking the cartridge for any abnormalities and check the cartridge housing in the printer for any debri. If you have a can of compressed air, try blowing out the housing.
Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer for you.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe this is natures way of telling me to upgrade my printer. I've been thinking of buying a HP 932C for the better color performance.
All it takes is One of those little contacts on the back of the ink cartridge or the Holder
not making correct connection for the error message to pop up.
I have seen the same message a number of times on both high end HP's and the kids hp812.
So picking up a new printer is not the solution.
What I have done in the past is Clean both the back of the cartridge and the contacts on the holder.
Using a cotton swap and a little ( Very Little) denatured alcohol .
Do NOT get any of the alcohol on the cartridge jets on the bottom .
It will create a very large Mess . ( Voice of experience )

Haven't needed to clean cartridge or holder on my 810C yet, but have tried the refilling process and want to recommend against that! Multiply Rick's mess by about 10 and you have a refilling cartridge process. Not worth it.

A rubber pencil eraser is a much better idea for cleaning electrical contacts than alcohol and Q-Tips...or anything liquid...
