http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif I have a Samsung DVD-Master 8E, Model SD-608 DVD ROM Drive which came with the computer I have. I have had the system for about a year, during which I had no trouble whatsoever with the DVD Drive. However, now, when I put a DVD or CD in, the LED lights up, it spins for a few seconds, and then stops, without booting the DVD/CD info or games. When I try to run the DVD/CD programs and movies from within the start menu, I get an error message saying there is "no disc found in the drive, insert disc and restart the application". I moved the drive to another slower pc, with the same results; and the troubleshooting guide I recieved with the system has nothing on this problem. What could be causing the drive to think no CD or DVD is present when one is in the drive? How can I fix it?

Hi Swyfty, and welcomre to the forum! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Just a thought, but have you tried cleaning the lens? sounds like that could possiblly be the problem. With the DVD in your system, does windows recognize it? can you for instance right click on it and select eject? ( and will it? )
If you look in your system properties under device manager, do you see it listed? when you click on it and select properties under settings, do you have DMA, auto insert notification enabled?
i would re-connect it properly and then try a lens cleaner on it. If that doesn't help then try the Samsung website and see if there is anything related to your issue in the support room.
Check back here occasionally, i'm sure you'll get some more idea's from other's here shortly. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
