OK, here's what I managed to do NOW to one of my PCs...
I built a Celeron 733mHz PC for my mom. It ran fine with a Canon C530 multifunction printer attached to it. Then I decided to swap out hard drives. After physically removing the drive, I changed my mind and re-installed it without making any changes to the drive or anything else on the computer (BIOS, jumper settings, etc.).
Well, now I can't get the printer to work. When I boot the computer up, the MultiPASS printer monitor/application says it cannot communicate with the printer. I uninstalled the software, deleted it from the registry, and tried to reinstall the drivers/software. No good, I still get the same error when MultiPASS tries to communicate with the printer.
The only weird thing is that the error window (which has an "OK" button to dismiss it) keeps reposting itself about every 5 seconds until I am able to exit the system tray icon for it. In the past, when I had trouble like this because I didn't have the printer connected to the computer, I'd get the window once, dismiss it, and that was that (other than the tray icon now having an X through it).
Any suggestions? I am at able wit's end with this printer. I'm about ready to donate it to someone and simply go out and buy a different one.
Thanks.
