I have a Microsolutions Backpack External hard drive (EHD) and a HP Deskjet 950C printer. I connect the EHD to the parallel port of the computer. I connect the printer to the EHD. I install the EHD software. When I go to print, the pages do not print completely. To print correctly, I uninstall the EHD software and plug the printer into the parallel port. I am curious why the EHD and printer do not work together, and how to fix this problem. One of the solutions that I thought of was to daisy chain the printer and a scanner using USB technology but have not done so because it requires an additional hardware purchase. I am tired of plugging and unplugging, installing and uninstalling. HELP, PLEASE!!

I would suggest getting the printer and the Drive on different channels
If this requires you purchase additional hardware that may be best.

An alternative you also have is to add a second LPT port if your external hard drive only works on the parallel port and not on the USB.
$20 for a PCI lpt port card isn’t that bad a price

You should get better performance out of the drive by putting it on a port alone
