First question is, if there is a problem with a usb device, can it cause software failures? I have a digital camera that I am trying to set up. Had no problem setting up the camera itself. My problems started when I downloaded the photo program with it. Now I am getting a kernel 32 error whenever I run any photo program, including imaging for windows. The error occurs in the exact same adress. I have tried everything under the sun to try and fix this on the assumption that it was the software that caused the problem. Then it occurred to me, that I had also had problems loading another usb device. Which leads me to believe that it has something to do with the usb. Now there does not seem to be apparent problem. Everything checks out in device manager. The hub controller and all of its drivers seem to be there. I do not know alot about usb, I checked out a site that told me that windows 98 automatically loads usb support. I checked the bios, and the only option I saw in usb was under periphereals, which said usb keyboard support which was disabled. I also noticed that irq 10 on my system is being used by the usb controller, as well as my modem and pci steering. It did not show any conflicts. But are there supposed to be so many things assigned to one irq? Maybe my motherboard does not support usb? Is there any way to check out what your motherboard is in the system, without having to open up the computer? Anyway, any feedback would be marvelous.

I have answered my own questions. After almost a week of messing around with this camera, I finally figured it out. IT was not software, it was not usb, it was twain. Yep, folks that is right. I downloaded a nifty little program called fixTWAIN.exe at this address http://www.cerious.com/faq_tsq.shtml http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. So if you install a camera and you get nothing but kernel 32 errors in all your phot programs, this might be your problem. Thank you, and I am off to take pictures.
