I have a Compac LTE 5250 laptop that I recently installed an external CD/RW on. After that I have had trouble with the Modem working. Both are PCMCIA devices. Modem keeps saying that it is already in use by another Dialup Network. When I look in Device Manager under PCMCIA I find 2 PCMCIA Curtis Controllers and 1 Card Services entry. It appears to me that 1 of the PCMCIA controllers is set up with both devices on it, and the other controller has nothing on it. When I delete all 3 PCMCIA entries with Hardware Manager and reboot Win95 will re-install all of them and the devices seem to work. But any kind of reboot and the modem stops working.
Seems like some kind of IRQ or COM conflict but the devices are using different IRQ's and the modem uses COM2. Can't tell if the burner uses an COM port on not. Don't know how to debut this. Any ideas?

If you have about 200+ mhz cpu and at least 64mb ram, I would consider replacing your Win95 with Win98 second edition upgrade. You will find it MUCH easier to deal with these types of devices in Win98 SE.
You can also go to: http://search.compaq.com/search/wrapper.asp?mss=search&pg=aq&i=CompaqCom&q2=LTE+5250+&cb=&rad=&q=lte+5250+&C9=all&search.x=34&search.y=10
and see if you need some new drivers.
