For a relative, I offered to help fix a computer and I wish I didn't!
I replaced the hard drive on her old Acer Aspire. I had to add an Ultra 66 card. It is up and running, but the printer won't connect up. SOmetime when I boot up it says it found the printer and sometimes it doesn't. When it does find it the darn thing still won't work. I get an error message that says there "may" be something else running on that port. Got any suggestions? - Rocco

Relatives mean freebies right? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
If you have the printer software cd, run that and look for a text file called readme. Read that and then try to install it , going by its instrutions.

If you go to the following you might find a program that will run a diagnostic on you ports. http://www.programmersheaven.com/zone16/cat429/

The first one says that it shows activity on port as it happens. Never tried it just did a search to see if something could b found.
Hope it helps
