My firewall tells me that my netbios is open and that im sharing my harddrivewith the rest of the world. But it doesnt tell me how to close the port. Does anyone know how to close this or fix the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks casper http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

Depends on the Firewall. Look for an option that lets you block ports. If in doubt, call the FW tech support line.

The NetBIOS ports are 137,138, and 139. By all means close them ASAP - NetBIOS is a favorite way for a cracker to can access to your system.

Also if you have Windows 9X you can remove "file and print sharing for microsoft networks" from the "network" applet in control panel (top) and also disable any options under File and print sharing in the same applet.(bottom)

In Windows NT/2000 choose "disable netbios over TCP/IP" from the "Wins" page of your TCP/IP properties.

Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
