Hope someone can help me on this one?? I have just set up a dual boot Win98 and Win2k, all is working well with the system i.e. networking, I can see all of the Win98 pc's on my Win200 machine. Printing is not working, either local or network when booted into Win2K. I have only managed to print 1 document so far as a local and when attempting to print on the network it just puts the prints on hold. I have the printer I use as the network printer connected to the main machine on a switch box, could this be a problem with Win2k? Win98 network and network printing is all working fine so what have I missed?? Help!!!!

have you used the " add printer wizard " to add your network printer?
Once you initiate it, it'll ask you if it's a local ( lpt1 ) or Network printer; just choose network and give it the share path { \\servername\printer name ) this should install it and ask you for the default, if it's the networked one then leave it checked, i would recommend printing a test page just to make sure it works.

Hello.
I'm not real familiar with 2000, there might be some permissions setting or something not on, lots of guys here use it daily so they might have some answers for that. I would eliminate the switch box from the loop just to be sure.
What kind of printer ist it?
I had a lexmark that I had problems with on the network. They had a solution where you install the printer as a local printer and mapped a virtual LPT port to the shared printer. Much like you can map a drive on a network.
It was a very confusing process (to me), and may not apply to your situation, but it never hurts to look into the support pages for your printer.
Good Luck

I run(trying to) a two computer home network. One machine has Win98se, the other Win2k. The printer is attached to the 98 machine. I have only gotten to print once. The 2k machine complained the drivers were incorrect so it asked if it could upgrade on that machine for when it tries to print. I allowed it, it printed once, then two days later neither will talk to each other with no other known changes http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif. They recognize the network but say they can't access each other-they're not even listed in network neighborhood....the heresay I keep getting is to give Win2k the boot, I'm not familiar with it, so I keep trying to fix before I go back to Win98se. I'm not sure if any of this helps, but maybe it will jog someones brain and pop out an answer.....
