Please help, heres the situation,win98 amd k62 350 ali m1542 chipset, I have added a pci usb card which after some time i have managed to get the exclamation marks of the usb root hub in device manager but now the machine will boot up ok and have a clean sheet in device man. but when i plug in a scanner or camera the bsod appears.(usb disabled in bios)

Have you enabled usb in bios? I had trouble with my mouse (not detecting it) until I realized that I hadn't enabled it in my bios. Hope this helps.

There is a known problem with USB, Win98 and AMD processors....Microsoft has a patch for it q240075 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q240075) (this patch ids for 98se)
