Hey Scroatbagg,
I recently had the same problem when reloading ME.
Double click the volume control in the system tray. Hit options>Properties, and show the control for "Phone." Be sure it is not muted (little checkbox in low left). You can then remove it from the list of shown controls if you want.

Hope that helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

hi,

I don't have any dial up accounts in winXP or win98se setup on my main machine now but going from memory...(this may not be exact) this should get you where you can find to change hearing the volume of your modem connection.

go to Dial up networking folder>> right click on you connection>> properties, advanced, modem, configure.

somewhere in there.

Hey Scroatbagg,
Are you talking about dialing and modem sounds, or once connected, you can't hear anything, as in, you could not hear someone talking?

If you are talking about modem sounds, look here: Start>settings>control panel>modems>propeties(for that modem)>adjust slider for volume.

WAIT, after reread, do you mean no sound at all, like from the speakers???

Thanks for your help guys but Ive got it sorted. I needed to hear my dial up connection as here in the UK the connection fails 1/2 of the time... What I didnt know is that I needed to enable my sound card to handle what my modem (external) used to do.

Thanks for the help!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
