PLease Help. Shutting down my copmuter does not power off the system, it just goes to hibernation state and there is no way power it off unless you unplug it from the wall socket. What is wrong with the shut down command?? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

no it did not work. I also tried msconfig and disabled various startup, winini, static VxD, and other groups without any success. I also upgraded my video and audio drivers. When I shut down, the monitor, hard disk, cd rom are all shut but i still get the "busy" red light on the computer and the power remains on. Any other ideas please

I have ME on a laptop and sometimes have the same prob. I fell it is a heat issue as when it does it, the bottom of the machine is very warm. I have had to hold the power button down until it powers off. If this is a tower or desktop you should not be experianceing the heat issue. This might seem like a stupid question but "what selection is highlighted" in the shutdown dialog box?

Did you put a program in recently or download something. Remove last program installed and try rebooting and if that doesn't work, there is that neat function about Windows ME. Use the restore function in your system tools.
