View Full Version : CMOS Battery, I'm losing time-but only when it's turned on!

The longer my system is turned on, the slower the clock gets! I have shut down all my background programs, the time loss has slowed but is still evident. I lose about 5 to 10 minutes a day. When the clock gets real behind the process slows, and I hear echoes when clicking with the mouse. Eventually I am forced to reboot. After rebooting the clock is back up to current time and it behaves properly. The sites selling CMOS batteries talk about losing time when the unit is shut down. Anyone know what's going on here? Thanks for your help!!

Thats a queer one, Ken. All I would do would be to replace the cmos battery and then see what happens. If there's still a problem it may be something to do with communication between Windows and your BIOS.
