This apply to a pc with :
- QDI advance10F motherboard
- PIII 800EB
- DVD/CD-rom Creative
- CD-writer HP9150i
- The Hard drive is on IDE1 / master
- The CD-Rom is on IDE2 / master and CD-writer on IDE2 / slave

If you connect both CD-Writer and DVD/CD-rom, you can't instal Win98 and get a boot failure. If you switch HD/CD-rom/CD-writer on IDE1 or 2, master or slave, any configuration, you're not able to boot either.
You have to disconnect the CD-Writer, install the OS, and reconnect the writer.

Could you tell me why ?

I think the boot disk gets confused over which CD ROM to use. It looks for one, finds two and flips out...The boot disk can only install one CD ROM driver, so disconnect the CD writer and connect it after installation.
