What do I have to do to get the system to recognize my CD-ROM drive? I'm trying to restore my hard drive and have the master CD, but the CD-ROM drive can't be found.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Get your hands on a Win98 startup disk (regardless of what you are using) and tell it to give you CD support when it boots....then you are off and running

Is this the only option? I'm not sure I can get a Win98 startup disk.

Boot Disk (http://www.bootdisk.com) has them, download one. or make one on a friend's win 98 machine. Bring your own floppy disk. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

I downloaded the bootdisk file from the site, ran the executable, and nothing happened.
Is there any other way to find the path to the CD-ROM? I'm running Windows 95.
Try renaming the file, then run it again. I ran across one that was trying to self-expand into a file of the same name, or you may need to have a disk already in the floppy drive when you run the file from the hard drive.
I have not run it, but you might try the Ultimate Boot Disk (http://www.startdisk.com/Web2/ubd/ubd.htm).

What make machine do you have? I just went through this exact prob. on a Compaq and the 98 bootdisk (although a good disk) would not get my CD up. I had to find the drivers for the specific drive to get it going.I might have some links for you if I know what you need.
