I heard that Windows 98 only utilizes 128mb RAM. So if I upgraded to 256 mb more RAM it would just be a waste. Is this true?
Thank you
Going to have to drop one of these in the FAQ section....
Here goes,
Back when win98 first came out RAM was fairly expensive, so for cost verses benefit reasons the 128MB limit came into being. The performance increase of going from 32 or 64 MB to 128MB was rather dramatic, but going from 128MB and up the performance curve flatened out. So up to 512MB is no problem, and there is improvement all the way up the line, just not very dramatic. But there is a real limit at 512MB (no, not in all configurations and with all systems)

Thanks mjc
How about for Windows2k and NT RAM ? Do they utilize the added RAM better than win98?
Yes, they do, NT kernel based versions of Windows can actually use upto a couple of gigs....(4 GB on 2K ).
